Fix subtitle timing
Under Fix subtitle timing on the Watching → Subtitles screen, Reelhost listens for when people speak in each video and compares it with when the subtitle lines show.
- Click Check subtitle timing. It's free and changes nothing. It checks the .srt, .ass and .ssa files Jellyfin lists next to videos in your movie and TV libraries, up to 1,000 files a check. Subtitles inside a video file aren't checked.
- Each film takes about a minute. Stop ends the check early and keeps the results so far.
- Files that are off are listed with what was found, such as 2.4 s late, high confidence, or early and drifting further over the film (made for 25 fps video). It finds offsets up to 90 seconds; under 0.15 seconds counts as in time.
- High-confidence results are ticked for you; others are tagged Check by eye. Files where music or effects drown out the speech, or with too few lines, are left as they are.
- Click Fix 3 files (the number you ticked). Only the times change; the words, encoding and styling stay exactly as they were. A file that changed since the check is left alone: check again.
Undo
Before changing a file, Reelhost copies the original into its undo journal in its own folder, not next to the video, where Jellyfin would show it as another subtitle. Undo last timing fix puts the newest fix back; click it again for the one before. A file changed since the fix is left as it is. Undo is always free.
Plan: checking is free; fixing needs Complete or Yearly. On a PC or Mac Reelhost reads the audio with Jellyfin's own ffmpeg, so Jellyfin must be installed there; in Docker it reads it through Jellyfin.
