Where subtitle files are saved

Every subtitle is its own file next to its video. Jellyfin reads these by itself and lists them in the subtitles menu of every app, on TVs, phones and browsers, so nothing needs to be merged into the video.

  • Downloaded: Movie (2001).eng.srt, with .forced for signs and foreign dialogue only, or .sdh for the hard of hearing.
  • AI: Movie (2001).en.English - AI.srt, shown as "English - AI" so nobody mistakes it for one a person made.
  • Your own files with names like Movie (2001).en.srt count too: a video that has them is skipped.

Reelhost never changes your video files and never replaces an existing subtitle file. To remove an AI subtitle, use Delete next to it on the Subtitles screen.
