Privacy policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Reelhost is a Windows app made by Wizzered Inc. ("we", "us"). It runs on your PC and changes your Jellyfin server's settings. This policy explains what the app and this website send over the internet, to whom, and why.
The short version
- No media data ever leaves your PC. Not your files, file names, library contents, artwork, watch history, Jellyfin accounts or passwords.
- Your video never passes through our servers. When you watch away from home, it streams straight from your PC to your device.
- The app sends only what its features need: license activation, update checks and, if you use them, updates for your watchhome.app address and your Free TV channel choice.
- This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Your account page sets one cookie, only to keep you signed in.
What the app sends
| When | What is sent | To whom |
|---|---|---|
| You activate your license, and occasionally afterwards to confirm it's still valid | Your license key, a random ID for this computer, and the computer's name (so you can tell your computers apart when moving a license) | Our license server, api.reelhost.app |
| The app checks for updates | The app's current version | GitHub, where Reelhost's releases are hosted |
| The app checks for a newer Jellyfin version | A request to GitHub's public list of Jellyfin releases. Nothing about you or your server | GitHub |
| Only if you use Free TV: when Jellyfin refreshes its channel list and guide (it does this on its own schedule) | Which channels you picked and, if known, your country, so only channels that play there are listed | Our Free TV service, api.reelhost.app. Jellyfin then plays each stream straight from the broadcaster, who sees your IP address like any website you visit |
| Only if you use a yourname.watchhome.app address: when you set it up and when your home's internet address changes | Your chosen name, your home's public IP address, and a token that proves the address is yours | Our name service, api.reelhost.app, which updates the address's DNS record at our DNS provider, [Cloudflare] |
Like any internet request, each of these also reveals your IP address to the service that receives it.
Services the app talks to on your behalf
Some features connect your PC directly to another company's service. We don't receive this data.
- HTTPS certificates (only with a public address): your PC requests a certificate for your address from Let's Encrypt. Certificates are published in public Certificate Transparency logs, so your address name becomes publicly visible. Your IP address and media are not in it.
- Antenna TV guide (only if you set it up): your PC downloads guide data from SiliconDust, the maker of HDHomeRun, using the code your tuner provides for that purpose.
- Tailscale (only if you choose private watching): the Tailscale app and your Tailscale account are governed by Tailscale's own privacy policy.
- Your router (only with a public address): the app asks your router, on your home network, to open the port Jellyfin needs (UPnP).
What never leaves your PC
- Your media files and their names, library contents, artwork and metadata
- What you watch and when
- Jellyfin user accounts and passwords
- Your Windows password. Reelhost never asks for, stores or sends it
- The check-up results and backups. Backups are saved on your PC only
Buying Reelhost
Purchases are handled by our payment provider, [Paddle or Lemon Squeezy], which acts as the merchant of record. It collects your name, email address, billing address and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address and order details so we can issue your license and help you with support. We email your license key through our email provider, [Resend]. We never see your full card number.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking scripts.
- If you use Find my key, the email address you type is sent to api.reelhost.app to look up your key, and we keep a record that we emailed it (it sends at most 3 an hour to any address). Nothing else is collected.
- The thank-you page after checkout asks api.reelhost.app for your new key, using the order number in its address. That lookup only works for 2 hours after purchase.
- Fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when you visit.
- Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page requested, time and browser) for [14] days to keep the site secure, then deletes them.
Your account
- You sign in at api.reelhost.app/account with a one-time link we email you, or with your license key and its email. We keep sign-in links and sessions only as random codes we can't reverse, plus the IP address a session started from, to keep accounts safe. A session ends after 30 days or when you sign out.
- To stop sign-in abuse, we count sign-in requests per email address and per IP address for an hour. We store those as one-way codes, not the addresses themselves.
- The account shows what we already hold for your license: your key, the computers using it, your watchhome.app address and its IP address, and your plan. Billing changes happen on our payment provider's own pages.
- The account uses one cookie, only to keep you signed in. No analytics or tracking.
Support requests and ideas
If you email us or write to us from your account, we keep the conversation so we can help you. If you choose to send diagnostics, we use them only to solve your problem. Feature ideas you post are shown to other customers, without your name or email; we keep who voted for what so each person votes once.
How long we keep data
We keep order and license records for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting, and for as long as your license is in use. Your watchhome.app name and its last known IP address are kept while your address is in use. Releasing the name in the app deletes its record straight away.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to legal record-keeping duties. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have further rights. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
Children
Reelhost is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If we change what the app sends, we'll update this page and say so in the app's release notes before the change ships.
