Cast and crew pictures
Jellyfin often saves each person's picture as a link to TMDb. If the first download fails, it only tries again when someone opens a page that shows that person, so many squares in the cast and crew stay blank. Jellyfin has no setting that fixes this.
- Open Watching → Viewing and tick Cast & crew pictures.
- Click Set up N things. Reelhost makes sure TMDb is on for people's pictures and for the cast of movies and shows. It also moves Jellyfin's "Refresh People" task to the night, then starts filling in.
How it fills in. Reelhost asks Jellyfin to download each missing picture, one at a time:
- People in what's being watched or was just added go first.
- It does up to 900 an hour, even with Reelhost closed.
- Nothing is downloaded while anyone's watching, so playback is never slowed down.
- A download that fails is tried again after an hour, then 6 hours, a day, and weekly after that.
The row shows how many people have pictures, how many are in progress, and how many have none on TMDb, couldn't be matched or failed.
- Fill in all now downloads everyone in progress straight away, with a progress bar and time left. It still keeps to 900 an hour and still pauses while anyone's watching. Stop leaves the rest to the background batches.
- Show who's missing lists people still without a picture and why, the ones that need a look first. Each has Try again.
- TMDb has no picture: TMDb has none of them. Reelhost looks again in a month.
- Couldn't be matched: the person has no TMDb id, often from an .nfo file or a library without TMDb, and the credits of the titles they're in didn't give one. Reelhost doesn't guess by name, because it could be the wrong person. It tries again in a month.
- Being matched: Reelhost is matching them to TMDb through a title they're in; the picture follows.
- Undo next to the item puts the settings back and stops the batches.
Setting it up, Fill in all now and Try again need Complete or Yearly.
