Share photos with private links from your server
In Signal, anyone can share photos they own. Nothing is uploaded to another company: your server serves them itself.
- Private links open in any browser, with no sign-in, through your web address (
app.<name>.watchhome.app). A link ends after 7 days unless its maker picks 1, 30 or 90 days, can have a password, is view only unless downloads are allowed, and stops working the moment it's revoked. Each time it's opened or downloaded from is counted. Links work only while Reelhost runs and Signal from away is on. - Where a photo was taken (and the camera's other details) is left out of shared copies unless the person sharing keeps it for that share.
- Hidden photos are never shared, and a photo hidden later disappears from every link and share. Only a photo's owner can share it.
- With someone in the household: it shows under Shared with you in their Signal. On TVs, only photos already shown on TVs appear.
- Shared albums: the album's owner invites people from the household (or a guest who joined with an invite link). People allowed to add can add photos of theirs or straight from their phone, and everyone in it can comment and react. Photos added from a phone are saved as new files in a
Shared albumsfolder next to phone backups, never over a file. Taking a photo out of an album never deletes the photo it came from. - Partner sharing shares all of someone's photos, or the ones from a date range, with one chosen person, as their library grows.
Who may make links
Admins may, and the people an admin allows. Under Connect devices → Shared photos you can let everyone make links, allow links that never end, see every link that's open with how often it was opened, and Revoke any of them. Who may make links can't be changed from away. Every share, view and change is in Signal's Activity list.
When you remove Reelhost, every link stops. Photos people added to shared albums stay unless you choose to delete them (only copies still exactly as saved).
