Keep Reelhost running in the background

Signal apps on your TVs and phones reach Reelhost while it runs, so Reelhost doesn't have to be open on the screen:

  • Closing the window keeps Reelhost running in the tray (the menu bar on a Mac). The first time, a notification says so. Click the tray icon, or open Reelhost again, to see its window.
  • The tray icon's menu: Open Reelhost, Pause Signal access (no Signal app reaches Reelhost until you choose Resume Signal access, or Reelhost starts again) and Quit Reelhost.
  • Start when you sign in: a new install starts Reelhost in the tray, without its window, when you sign in to the computer. If you used Reelhost before, Home asks once. Change it under Connect devices → Signal apps → Keep Reelhost running. On Windows it's the scheduled task Reelfix\Reelhost; on a Mac, the login item app.reelhost.background. Removing Reelhost removes it.

The TV guide, alerts, AI subtitles and Reelhost's other hourly jobs run on their own schedule either way, even when you quit Reelhost.
