Video speed
- What it means
- Optional when Jellyfin converts video for phones and viewers away from home on the processor, which can stall and buffer, and this computer's graphics card could do it faster. It needs fixing when Jellyfin is set to a graphics card this computer can't use, so videos that need converting can fail to play.
- What the fix changes
- Reelhost first tests your graphics (Intel Quick Sync, NVIDIA NVENC or AMD AMF) with Jellyfin's own video tools on this computer. Then it turns on the one that passed, and decoding for the formats that passed (H.264, HEVC, VP9). Nothing untested is turned on. If Jellyfin was set to one that can't work here, Reelhost switches to one that passed, or back to the processor. On a Mac it tests Apple's VideoToolbox the same way. In Docker, give both containers the graphics device and Reelhost turns on VAAPI (Intel or AMD) or NVENC (NVIDIA).
- How to undo
- Restore the backup.
On a Mac all ten checks appear, done the macOS way, and Network drives is called Start at login. In Docker, Firewall, Sleep settings and Network drives don't apply in a container, so they're hidden, and Antenna TV is set up on its own screen. More about Docker.
