Export and import Reelhost settings
Without cloud backup, a small settings file brings Reelhost's choices to a new computer:
- Viewing's defaults for people you add: the home screen, and subtitle languages and when they turn on.
- The theme for everyone, and smart rows (with or without seasonal collections).
- Autopilot: on or off, fixing or only telling.
- Free TV: which channels, and for which country.
It never holds keys or passwords (your license key, Reelhost's key in Jellyfin, your web address's, the recovery code); those are made again on the new computer. People, watch history and folders aren't in it either: cloud backup brings those.
- On the old computer, open License, then Reelhost settings file, and click Export Reelhost settings. Save the file (named like
reelhost-settings-DESK-2026-10-04.json) where the new computer can reach it. - On the new computer, in the same place under Import, click Choose a settings file. When no cloud backup is found, Move from another computer offers the same as Import a settings file.
- Each setting says Adds, Already set here or Needs Jellyfin. Nothing has changed yet. Click Import … to set the ones marked Adds.
- Importing only adds what isn't chosen here yet, so importing twice changes nothing.
- The theme, smart rows and Free TV go into Jellyfin: connect Reelhost to Jellyfin on People & folders first, or import again afterwards.
- A file from a newer Reelhost asks you to update Reelhost here first.
Exporting works with any license key. Importing needs Complete or Yearly.
